Powder brows is great for people who want a make-up like extra definition without the hassle of filling in the brows every day. It’s also the preferred technique for people with oily skin, as it typically lasts longer than other semi-permanent makeup procedures such as microblading and nano hair strokes.
The process – how we do Magic Ombre Powder Brows
Step 1. Online consultation: After you book for an appointment, we will send you an online consultation which you need to complete before we accept your booking. The magic powder brows consultation form will help you understand the procedures, expectations and any risks involved. It will also help you make a final decision whether magic powder brows is right for you. It will take about 10 minutes to complete this form.
Step 2. Direct consultation: When you come in for your appointment, we will have a discussion on how you like your new brows to be. If you have any specific need or expectation that you want to address about your brows, this is the perfect time to let your artist know. We will then assess your natural brows, brief you of our opinion and how we think the brow should be done for the best result. We will also discuss with you about the color that would make your brows look more beautiful. After we fully understand each other and you agree on a color we will move to the next step. This will take about 15 minutes.
Step 3. Numbing cream: We will then cleanse your eyebrows area and apply numbing cream. This will take about 5 minutes.
Step 4. Brow mapping: We will draw a mock shape of your new brows so you know what to expect. As this is a make-up like treatment, we usually use your natural brows as our guide. We try to keep as much natural brows intact as possible. The process start with using a thread to find the centerline or the forehead, between the two eyebrows. Then locate the position of the heads, and make sure both sides have the same height. Then we will locate the highest point of one of your eyebrow and the tail of the brow inline with the eyeline. After that we use a caliper to copy the exact same measurements to the other side and then draw the shapes using a marker. This technique ensure that we can achieve as much symmetry in the brows as possible. Please note that perfect symmetry is not guaranteed as this is an art process performed by hand, also our natural facial structures are asymmetrical on their own.
Step 5. Refining the brows. Once the mapping is done, we will work with you to make any changes that you want to make to balance the brows and to fit your own personal style. Next, we will shave away brow hairs where necessary above and below the brow to define the shape (waxing would sensitize the skin too much).
Step 6. Powder the brows. With the shape defined, we will fill in the brows with selected color using the machine and a nano needle (usually with a 0.3mm point). The needle will penetrate the skin and deposit pigment into the upper layers of the skin. We will also distribute the color layers to get the magic ombre powder brow look – where the head of the brow is lighter than the rest of the brow. We will distribute tiny pixels of color more sparsely at the head of your brow, which makes it look a little lighter and gives a more natural finish. This magic ombre effect will make sure that your brow heads do not look square and dark. Instead, it will give the most natural look for your brows. We will repeat this process a few times to build up the color, layering pigment on top in between each layer.
Step 7. Reviewing. It is the excited moment that your new brows are reveal to you. We will also assist if you want any minor adjustment to the brows if possible.
Step 8. Second session for touch up. This is a 2-session-treatment. After your brows healed for 4 weeks, you will find some color lost, unbalance color or shape due to color lost. This is common and it happens more significantly for clients with oily skin. Hence, a 2nd session is necessary to touch up color and balance the brows. The result is often the best after the 2nd session.
